STUDENT PROFILE

Students at The New High School Project are bright 9th, 10th and 11th graders.  Our hard-working students may have struggled in more traditional educational settings. Before coming to TNHSP, they may have felt that their performance in school didn’t seem to match their potential.  Reading, writing, or spelling sometimes causes them frustration.  For some students, earlier struggles with learning variations damaged their confidence.

It is our goal at TNHSP to unwrap the potential and the self-confidence of each student.  Our diverse group of students enjoys a challenging, hands-on, non-competitive curriculum.  During their time here, our students work to create a top quality portfolio.  In the process, they increase their academic skills.  They also develop pride in their work, and they gain confidence.  As our students accumulate credits toward a high school diploma, they come to think of themselves as successful learners with the potential to succeed in college.

"I learned that I'm a Kinesthetic Learner.  This means that I learn by doing.  When I am studying, I shouldn't just sit there, but instead be active and speak aloud." -- TNHSP student

"One thing every Career Day speaker shared with us was that they struggled before they were able to succeed. This is a very important message for us." -- TNHSP student

"Today I learned that you never get everything you want, only the things that you make happen." -- TNHSP student

"I loved learning about the colleges, and how some don't care how you did on the SAT test." -- TNHSP student
